Hesketh & Marlow, the Bridgmoor Canal, every boat, lock, person and price here is invented for a web design portfolio. Nothing is for sale, nothing can be booked, and every form is a demonstration with a disclosure on it.
What the site stores
One thing: your theme preference, in your browser's local storage, under the key hm-theme. No cookies, no analytics, no trackers, no third-party requests. Forms run entirely in your browser.
Built to WCAG 2.2 AA
Keyboard navigable throughout, visible focus states, a skip link, semantic landmarks, labelled controls, contrast-checked palettes in both themes, and every animation disabled under reduced-motion settings.
The words and pictures
Site text and artwork are the portfolio's own. Type is Bricolage Grotesque and Instrument Sans, both under the SIL Open Font License, self-hosted from this site. Painted patterns are original designs in the canalware tradition, not copies of any real boat's livery.
