What still moves by water
The Bridgmoor never got its rail spur, so its trade never left. Coal still comes down from the Kennel Lane yard on Tuesdays and Fridays. Oak leaves the Felly woods the first Monday of each month. Everything else on the freight ledger - malt, flour, a piano in 1987, one diplomatic quantity of daffodil bulbs - is scheduled by the yard clerk and accepted with the same shrug.
